For this year only, The Gay German Open will be held in Essen. The city is 30 mins by the direct train from Dusseldorf Airport and easily accessed by road. The host hotel is next to the main station and is only 3 stops from the Lovely Tennis Venue, which is the oldest tennis club in Germany. For the party animals there are several gay bars and a very popular sauna in the city. Essen was also a previous European City of Culture. The host hotel is 72euro including breakfast for a single and 102euro for a double. Included in that price is a public transport pass. Doubles and singles matches are full 3 set format.
