GLTA Divisions

Love competitive play? GLTA is a recreational tennis league with more than 10.000 players worldwide competing while meeting new people and getting physically active.

Match play is based on the GLTA ranking system so you will play with and against players of similar abilities. Whether new to the game or a former player, there’s a spot for you!

To get started, create a FREE account and choose your playing level. We encourage all players to select a level that offers good, competitive matches.

GLTA offers five playing levels from beginner to advanced players:

D

C

B

A

Open

Beginner

Intermediate

Strong Intermediate

Advanced

Highly Advanced

If you are a beginner and don’t have a lot of experience playing competitively, you are welcome to the D category. Have no fear – others in this category are new to the game as well!

If, on the other hand, you are a more advanced player and have a national ranking, please check the GLTA Division Standards Guideline (below) to help you choose the right division.

If you don’t have a national ranking and/or are unsure which division to pick, please contact the Tournament Director of the tournament you would like to play. Our Tournament Directors have a good overview of the overall playing levels in each division and will be glad to assist you. At the end of the day, it is the responsibility of the tournament director to ensure that all participants play in correct categories.

Depending on the tournament, it is possible to play singles, doubles and/or mixed doubles. You may have a different ranking for singles and doubles. However, please keep in mind – if you are new to GLTA and do not have an established ranking in either singles or doubles, you are allowed to play only one rank down from your highest category. For example, when you enter the “Open” singles division you can play either “Open” or “A” doubles division.

In case you have an established ranking for both singles and doubles, you may play up to two levels down from your highest division entered. For example, if you have an established “Open” ranking in doubles and an established “B” ranking in singles, you can enter “Open” division in doubles and “B” division in singles.

If you are not sure about your playing level, please check the GLTA Division Standards along with the equivalent rankings.
